Michail Andreas Michalopoulos

Electrical Engineering student · Automotive Technology · TU/e

Electrical engineering student specialising in automotive technology, at home on both sides of the hardware/software line: from STM32 power-converter firmware and Arduino sensing to CAN bus tooling in Rust and full-stack web apps. I like understanding a system end to end, testing what I build against real measurements, and explaining clearly what was done and why.

Education

BSc Electrical Engineering – Automotive Technology

Sep 2022 – present

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Eindhoven

  • Design- and challenge-based projects: small-scale EV efficiency (2022), Venus exploration robots (2023), a thermal therapy device (2023), automated luggage sorting (2024) and STM32 buck-converter control (2025).

Greek Apolytirion (High School)

2019 – 2022

Pierce – The American College of Greece, Athens

  • Focus on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • School robotics club: represented the school at the Panhellenic Robotics Competition, and designed a robotic hand (CAD, electronics and C++ control software).

Awards

1st place, Beginners bracket · WhiteHats TrojanCTF 2026

May 2026

1st of 37 teams in the Beginners bracket and 5th of 63 teams overall, behind only four Advanced-bracket teams, in a day-long team Capture The Flag at TU/e organised by E.S.H.A. Trojan and WhiteHats B.V. Challenges covered web, cryptography, forensics, reverse engineering, binary exploitation, OSINT and AI.

1st of 37 teams (Beginners) and 5th of 63 overall in a day-long team CTF at TU/e.

Projects

STM32 Buck Converter Control

2025

TU/e Challenge-Based Learning · group project

  • Wrote all of the control firmware: PWM gate drive, sensing, protection and telemetry.
  • 50 kHz complementary PWM on TIM1 with configurable dead-time
  • Input voltage through a resistor divider and current from a LEM sensor on two ADCs
  • No-load protection that shuts down the PWM and flags the fault over UART

canview – CAN Bus Analyzer

2026

Personal project

  • Live capture over SocketCAN, candump log replay at adjustable speed, and a demo mode
  • Own DBC parser decoding Intel and Motorola byte order with scaling and units
  • Per-ID message rates, a signal view and a bus-load sparkline in the terminal

Automated Luggage-Sorting Conveyor

2024

TU/e embedded systems project · team of students

  • T-shaped layout with 2 belts, 5 sensors and an elevator that rejects faulty items
  • C on the Arduino for real-time control, Python on the Raspberry Pi for decisions
  • Team development on GitHub with pull-request reviews

Spectre – Passive Network Intelligence

2026

Personal project · ~30k lines · 170 commits

  • Rust daemon (libpcap, axum, SQLite) with a live React + D3 mesh-graph dashboard
  • Passive OS, JA4 TLS, DNS/DHCP and service fingerprinting from traffic already on the wire
  • 11 research analytics on scanner behaviour, from operator rhythm to zero-day recon early warning

Venus Exploration Robots

2023

TU/e Design-Based Learning · group project

  • Two autonomous robots that explore a simulated Venus surface, avoid craters and mountains, and bring rock samples back to the lab.

Peltier Thermal Therapy Device

2023

TU/e product design course (4WWB0) · group project

  • Heating holds 41–45 °C; Peltier cooling holds 10–14 °C
